3 Best Massages on The Big Island
This Blog Post is about Finding the Best Massage in Hawaii on The Big Island
There is nothing better than getting a massage. Scratch that, there is nothing better than getting a great massage in Hawaii. Whether you are looking for a couples massage, and ocean front massage, or a traditional Hawaiian lomi lomi massage I’ve got you covered. Below are my 3 all time favorite spots to get a massage on the Big Island. I hope you enjoy!
Best Ocean Front Massage in Hawaii: The Lotus Center
The Lotus Spa is by far the best Massage in Kona, Hawaii. The spa is located inside the Royal Kona Resort. I always request an oceanside massage. I wouldn’t get anything else! And yes it is worth the extra money. It is done in a private space on the property where you are completely secluded and not distracted by guest activity or noise. With the pristine ocean view and the relaxing sound of the rolling waves, you’ll be overcome with serene peace. Every time I’ve gone I’ve had a great masseuse that really focused on the areas I needed them to and knew what they were doing. I highly recommend deep tissue full body massage. If you are going to get a massage in Hawaii you mind as well splurge.
Tips and Recomendations
Also, if you are looking to do something romantic they can do an oceanside couples massage. If you and your significant other go I recommend making the day of it! First, get your massage. Then I recommend having a light lunch at Don’s Mai Tai Bar ( also oceanfront & in the resort ) Casual Attire is okay. You don’t usually need a reservation for lunch so feel free to walk right in. I recommend their Coconut Shrimp, Big Island Breeze Salad, Wild Ahi Sashimi, & Poke Nachos. After lunch, you can use the amenities and hang by the pool or their ocean lagoon, soak up the sun and sip Mai Thai’s.

Best Luxurious Massage in Hawaii: Spa Without Walls
The Spa Without Walls is in Waikaloa on the Big Island at the Fairmont Orchid Resort. If you want to honestly treat yourself to a luxurious massage in Hawaii I recommend booking an appointment here. They have private outdoor huts where you can hear the sound of a nearby trickling waterfall or choose to be oceanfront for a nice breeze and ocean waves. Here you can sink into relaxation with the ancient healing arts of the Lomi Lomi massage, or book a couples massage for a romantic day and add in a full body scrub. The massage therapists have amazing techniques and are talented and warm. And the amenities include a steam room, sauna, and a beautiful garden you can stroll through.
Tips and Recomendations
I highly recommend booking your massage close to sunset. Go early and check out Pauoa Bay, it is a beautiful white sand beach sheltered from the waves, which makes it a perfect swim spot. There is decent snorkeling there as well. You can grab lunch at Hale Kai (casual beach bar) on the resort then head to the spa they do have showers so you can rinse off and enjoy a steam or sauna session while you wait for your massage.
After your massage, you can hang out in your own private hut and watch the perfect sunset completely blissed out. Other than the Four Seasons ( which you have to be a member or a guest to attend their spa) This is one of the best spas on the big island. If after your Spa day you think you’ll be up for more I highly recommend making a reservation at Brown’s Beach House. Their food is heavenly, the ambiance is amazing, and they usually have local Hawaiian artists in the evening. It is by far one of my favorite outdoor dining experiences on the big island. I hope you enjoy it!

Best Couples Massage in Hawaii: Mamalahoa Hot Tubs & Massage
I could say I saved the best for last but honestly, I have so much love for all of these places they all do such an incredible job, and all offer such a different experience. However, Mamalahoa Hot Tubs & Massage is truly a hidden gem, near Captain Cook!
If you are looking for a private and intimate experience with your significant other with time to bond. Then this is the best spa in Hawaii for you. The therapists here truly care and inquire about what you do for work and what type of exercise you do. This way they can focus on areas you may not even have realized needed work. They also give great recommendations of various stretches, or therapeutic oils you could use in your daily life.
Furthermore, Mamalahoa Hot Tubs is special because it provides an experience like no other. It is set in the thick of the rainforest. When you arrive you are warmly greeted and introduced to your masseuse. You then pick from an array of essential oils, because a wonderful aromatherapy experience awaits you. You’ll hear peaceful bird songs and the soothing sound of the rainforest while you are experiencing your open-air massage. After you are guided to a private shower to rinse off, then you are guided to one of their private wooden barrel hot tubs for an hour-long soak. Each Hot Tub is completely secluded, has an outdoor cool shower, and has a view of the rainforest. Also, clothing is optional. Here you truly get a private intimate experience like nowhere else to reconnect with your partner. It’s a must and you’ll leave in a complete state of peace.
Tips and Recomendations
If you are staying in the Waikaloa where all the resorts are it will be about a 45-minute drive however, if you are in Kona it’s a quick 15. After your massage, you’re just going to want to go back and pounce on your partner, to be honest. So if you want to check out the area I recommend doing so before. Not too far is Captain Cook Monument which has a great view and rich history. It also provides a beautiful scenic drive and a true look at the island. You could also do a coffee tour at Greenwell Farms. Try HICO and get a purple Ube Latte. Go To Shaka Tacoz for lunch, or get Local Hawaiian Food at Da Bomb Grindz. I hope you love it all as much as I do!
